How 3D Marketplace Works

We connect people who need things printed with skilled local makers who can print them — fast, affordably, and without the guesswork.

What is 3D Marketplace?

3D Marketplace is a peer-to-peer platform that lets anyone get custom objects 3D printed by a verified local maker. Whether you have a file ready to go, a rough idea you need help sourcing, or something that needs to be designed from scratch — our makers handle all three.

Customers can order directly from your catalog too. Once an order arrives, communicate with the customer and keep them updated on progress.

Mark as ready and ship (or arrange pickup)

When the print is done, mark it ready for delivery. Ship it out or coordinate local pickup with your customer directly through the platform.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pricing depends on the maker, the material, and the size of your print. Most orders range from $8 to $65. Each maker sets their own base rate plus a per-gram filament charge. You'll always see the full price before you confirm.

Most makers accept STL, OBJ, and 3MF files — the three most common 3D printing formats. Some makers can also source free models from sites like Thingiverse or design custom models from scratch if you don't have a file. Check each maker's profile for their specific capabilities.

Payment is held in escrow when you place your order and released to the maker only after you confirm delivery. If something goes wrong, our dispute resolution team steps in to make it right. We never release funds until you're satisfied.

First, contact your maker directly through the platform — most issues are resolved quickly with a reprint or a partial refund. If you can't reach an agreement, open a dispute and our admin team will review the conversation and order history to mediate a fair resolution.

Print time typically ranges from a few hours to 2–3 days depending on the size and complexity of your object. After that, shipping time depends on the method chosen — most makers offer USPS Priority (2–3 days) or local pickup. You'll get a tracking number as soon as your order ships.
